hey kat, i love you too.....awww...um.
so.

we're having people over friday for a party of sorts, so, well, consider this your invite, all. please come. beer and food and you. food at 10pm. hoorah! hoorah! and steven says he is making dessert. hoorah! hoorah! i am listening to donovan right now sing about how he loves his shirt because it is so comfortable. why don't people sing about their shirts anymore?

and KAT: we might be looking for another roomate for next year, but not for sure yet. this kid chris might be moving up from milwaukee to live with us, but he hasn't confirmed yet, SO! keep us in mind. (it's me, laura, anna, and liz.....in a 5 bedroom house on east dayton).

also, janel and matt, did i invite you over to watch city of lost children and drink beers tonight? maybe we should actually do that! i'll call when i get home from work.
so yeah...everyone better be coming to the f*ing show tonight. :) you know where, the orpheum, you know the time, 10 30 pm it starts (doors 10) you know the cover, 5 bucks, but do you know the bands??? i didn't think so! dress rehearsal (lovely jared from DKM and who works at urban's band), the snaggs (rockford rock, with a girl singer, AND her dad is the singer from cheap trick! how rad is that?? that in itself should make you want to come!! :) ), and finally madison favorites, the cool people (davy jones, nuf said) so everyone get drunk off your ass and rock out...you best best there, or i might just have to kick your ass.
To win the respect of his eagle parents, the parrot negotiates a deal with the EPA protecting his parents' homeland from ruthless ski resort developers and a lumberjack. The lumberjack will be played by the lead singer of Les Savy Fav.
where's my back pack?????????
ok, so there are somewhere between 145,000 and 170,000 eligible voters in Madison. Just short of 60,000 turned out to vote. By my sketchy estimates, that is less than 40% turnout. Oftentimes it makes me really angry to see President Bush play things as if he has a mandate from the American public to do what he does. Aside from the disputes over whether or not he _really_ won the election, only about half of the eligible voters turned out for the Presidential election. let me repeat for emphasis: Only half of the voters in this country bothered to vote for the person who was to run the country for the next four years. Anyway, back to my point--Bush only has a mandate from approximately 25 percent of the (eligible voter) population, so forgive me if I don't consider this any sort of mandate at all. This being the case, I'm frustrated that--in all fairness--I need to apply the same logic and criticism to Madison's newest elected official whom I happen to like a great deal. Maybe this post seems rambling or altogether sleep-inducing*, but does anyone agree with me that voter apathy is a serious problem?

*Somnolent is really useful word that means "sleep-inducing." I just think it's a great word that doesn't get the use or credit that it deserves.

clearly i have too much time on my hands tonight.
i hope ya'll voted today! I happen to think that Madison made the right choice for mayor, and I'm proud to say that I convinced my roommate to go vote a mere 7 minutes before the polls closed. The old ladies volunteering remarked, "Why is it alway the men that come in this late?"

In other news:
Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy
#271 (a.k.a. Matt's next screenplay)
I think a cute movie idea would be about a parrot who is raised by eagles. It would be cute because the parrot can't seem to act like an eagle. After a while, though, to keep the movie from getting boring, maybe put in some pornography. Later, we see the happy parrot flying along, acting like an eagle. He sees two parrots below and starts to attack, but it's his parents. Then, some more pornography.
