we do have shows coming up, i don't know the particulars except they are next thursday through saturday.
a) new poster contract!
b) party at the corral room on tuesday!
c) we should get a show at the anchor with mudride and the german art students.
Whass up Stevesleeve? Hey DPC got any gigs coming up, I don't see any new ones posted?
i just posted three times and then deleted all of them. hindsight is 20/20. it is too early. for anybody who read them during that 10 minute gap, we share a special moment.

gagagagoo is the new kajagoogoo. WHERE IS BUTCH B.?
MATT: according to the onion, the heavenly states is the new name for a band formerly called.......fluke starbucker

Tuesday, July 29, 2003

you feel like Clucky, from the Cluckin' Chicken. First his heads cut off, then he's plucked and gutted, his intestines are pulled out. then hes flame broiled. good thing he's dead or wowee. then hes covered in sauce so you can chew him, digest him, and convert him to waste matter. gagagagoo. something's always cookin' at the cluckin' chicken.
I feel like a chicken with it's head cut off, if only that chicken still had it's brain to process any feeling, but if it could feel anything... i feel like that.
suppose I should blog about the show. It was all right. Thanks to all of those to watched us. And thanks to all the others who paid but didn't watch us. Kurmudgeon and Mabel were tasty. Later that night I climbed a huge ski slope with katy and justin, and puked a lot at the top.
does anyone want to practice tonight?

does anyone know how much this fucking thing tonight costs?

oh and thank you to all who joined me in celebrating my birthday, and a large FUCK YOU to the asshole who snuck into our house and stole our shit.
I'm bringing a flashlight. (Is that whoop-I'm-a-stellar-boyscout-prepared, or is that just really comically nerdy in every way?) I'm in the dark on this, really. (Well, dark but for my lone mag-light that is...hee.)

Today at work, I was able to shoot five co-workers before security wrestled me to the ground.

Confidential to steve sleeve: you should get a midget and call him "short sleeve"

maybe not
I'm collecting camping supplies tonight, so what do we need? One tent? Two? What else?
anyone that is lacking in a ride or accomodations for rockingness this weekend should let me know...

so you know those cartoons that accompany savage love in the onion? the artist said i had sexy voice, and she most know something, what with working so closely with dan savage. also, yeah.
Jon Knight as Matt Weber
Jordan Knight as Craig Benzine
Joe McIntyre as Nate Bartley
Danny Wood as Marcus Truschinski
Donnie Wahlberg as Ian Purvis
a year ago, matt posted this:

Being well greased with social lubricants, our conversation turned from "riskiest places to masturbate" to "which celebrity actresses would play the males on doty street." As a band, we had discussed this very thing for a music video but extended it to our neighbors. Uma Thurman as Jonathan Arris. Janeane Garofalo as Jim Schneider. Okay, these are approximations at best. We took into account both looks and apparent personality and tried to come up with the closest match.

here's that band:

Angelina Jolie as Matt Weber
Alyssa MIlano as Craig Benzine
Drew Barrymore as Nate Bartley
Sophia Coppola as Marcus Truschinski
Sigourney Weaver as Ian Purvis

all the names were links as well. we should update our comparisons.
mmmm..... pumpkin seeds..... i can't stop eating these pumpkin seeds.....

i will probably not be able to leave until after 3:30 or so on saturday.
what will we do without our lizzie bean next year?? :(
Ian-dria are you thinking of driving the van on 1. friday or 2. saturday afternoon? if your answer is option number two, could it be after 12 noon? i need to know if i should take off saturday morning.
info about the lacrosse show, go to mabeltheband.com and click on "field fest 2003".
then we must calculate our ideal measurements!
janel, zack is coming over at 8 to work on

the vacuum table of duum!

if the parking lot is empty, the car is not there, unless mistakenly invisible to the human eye.

craig, smokesignals in a sense both dissipate and repeat, depending on how you look at it.

This weekend was a learning experience. Craig learned that he shouldn't get tackled. nate learned that he shouldn't carelessly jump into a stranger's car. Janel learned that money and power aren't all they're cracked up to be. ian learned . . . actually ian unlearned a few social niceties like toilet flushing and seasonal windshield wiper replacement. On the other hand, I learned that knowledge is power . . . for real!
I've been noticing some bruises all over my body today. Damn those "Craig-piles" and "Craig-tackles" that I don't remember. In other news, we finally made it home. It was a close one though, because at one point we almost ran out of gas. We frantically checked two exits for gas stations and didn't find one. We drove another 5 miles or so on empty (with a reader saying we had 0 miles worth of gas left) and then found a gas station. I don't think we should operate vehicles anymore.
On Fri, Aug 22 APG will be deaprting madison to return home to find her place in the sky (hopefully in an airplane)
you should have bought the FDF van.
we are waiting for the garage to call back about my van. it looks like the water pump has probably gone out. i hope nothing got melted from all the times my van has overheated in the last three days. there's nothing like pulling off the interstate into northfield wisconsin and seeing smoke come out from under your hood.

that was on friday. while we waited for it to cool down, we drank pabst in a bar where deer head trophies decorated the walls (wood paneling). we were superstars there after learning that we were the youngest people to have ever ordered a pabst blue ribbon.

the show on friday night was a blast. kurmudgeon worked to destroy as much of their equipment as possible. tim sprayed beer all over the basement from frustration. later justin proceded to destroy as much of dinkytown's outdoor furniture as possible. still later, we drank on the train bridge until no longer possible.

saturday was a slow day. nate, janel, and i went to the walker art museum for the afternoon.

saturday night's drinking became one violent tornado of destruction. we sacrificed a resusci-annie. i am going to have to have my glasses re-adjusted to fit right after being at the bottom of a craig pileup and swinging off a girder from the top of the train bridge. i never thought that sleeping on a basement floor would feel so good.

sunday was shaping up to be good. after breakfast at the dinkytowner, we got the van loaded up and started making our way out of minneapolis. right as we were going by hudson, the mini overheated and the belt that makes the power steering and alternator work came off. justin and dave picked us up and we left the van there overnight.

let's see what happens today!!

Sunday, July 20, 2003

dpc is stuck in the twin cities because a belt fell off underneath ian's van. we will be back in madison tomorrow, hopefully.

Saturday, July 19, 2003

you guys best not forget that you ought to play at least one more show before i leave. i wanna rock out once more before i go. hope youre having fun in the cities this weekend...

Friday, July 18, 2003

mcgarnukle, my boy, i should have drowned you twenty years ago.
if anyone talks to echo-static tell them steve sleeve (formerly of the five euro foundation) says hello.

Thursday, July 17, 2003

melissaaaaa, we're going to minnesota this weekend. we can't come to the terrace! what are you doing tonight??? i am going to the caliphone/ brokeback show with some guys from work if anyone is interested. is anybody going to nick's later?
haha. tomorrow i get to work for twelve and a half hours. hooray for maxwell street days. i forget which day it is but echo-static is playing on the terrace this weekend. if you've never seen them you should check them out. i remember that it's at 9:00 though. i survive on soup.
back off, nate...denise is mine.
do you love me denise?
also, does anyone want to go see fountains of wayne at first avenue on saturday night?
unless we disassemble the bike. or melt it down.
i am assuming that we are only bringing our guitars and keyboard. but we will need all the seats in the van since janel is riding too. so we probably won't be able to fit the cases and the bike in back.
are we bringing drums tomorrow? because my sister wants us to bring her bike to her.
i have decided to face the facts and put my seripop poster in my cubicle. (when not skipping work) i spend most of my time here. i'm going to start digging a trench.

i think the main thing wrong with me today is that i am wearing a womens' shirt. thanks janel! is it just me or are these shirts easier to button?

Wednesday, July 16, 2003

seriously, butch: what's wrong with all these damn kids?
sorry... i was the one who moved your car. i was moving it so that i could get my van out to go to work. i just parked it fast so that i didn't have to leave the van in the street.
to whoever used my car and whoever uses it in the future: you gotta park in further in so I don't have to move it for ian later.
"big top icon contender" is damn good.

yeah!
craig, and the rest of the dismemberment plan fan club, you'll probably like them alot. go here and listen. "big top icon contender" is the real good one, though.
going to a modest mouse show tonight w/ katy!!!

Tuesday, July 15, 2003

oh baby baby, i best be seeing your lovely faces at the show tmw night....line up: southerly, (krist of dkm), the profits (little saving face brother's band), dress rehearsal (hot jared), saving face, (sexy sarah and ryan and matt). doors 9:30 pm, show 10:00 promptly. 5 bucks. 21 up. :) much love. ~ kizat
will there be free food at this show? (not that that matters. What matters is ART!!!)
I highly doubt the action of 'ending' someone will be occuring. Big words are only big words in larger fonts.

But do come to the seripop show tonite. I believe we will be providing lots a wine.
I believe that you were zinged by my dad, Nate.

445 boys, how was the video game playing at the stagedoor last night?
this is a fucking animal house. butch, do whatever you want to.

a whisper to steve:

I WILL END YOU!!!!!!

lowercase is the new uppercase.

I Bet Ian Is So Mad I Just Wrote That. Oh Well !
Nate, I will start using punctuation when you guys start using capital letters on names etc,.
butch, you gotta start using some punctuation.
Craig thanks for the invite but can't make it this time got Rick Lynch's birthday party to go to on saturday there are about 4 birthdays that day and they are celebrating together at the park in Marshall setting up 1/2 barrels of beer and having a D.J. starts at 3:30PM goes to who knows when but there are eats at 5:00
dad, justin is a member of the band Kurmudgeon. He lives in minneapolis. you can come any time.
Ian thanks for the info but if you leave at that time I won't be able to make it I have to drive from Beloit you know and I usually work till 3:30 or so. So don't wait for me, maybe next time.
butch, justin is the drummer from kurmudgeon. he lives in the twin cities. so if you're going to come, you're going to have to leave here around noon or 1pm on friday to get there just as it starts. you can always be fashionably late and leave around 2pm as well.

after everyone goes to the seripop thing, everyone is invited to nottingham co-op to watch the dear nora show. jonny from nottingham put us on the guest list for loaning him the pa.
Hey Doty Ranch dudes who is Justin where is his party and what time do you want me there?

Monday, July 14, 2003

nate, will there be $1.50 rail drinks at the studio quest?
Try this soon, before Google fixes its site
1) Go to Google.com
2) type in (but don't hit return): "weapons of mass destruction"
3) Hit the "I'm feeling lucky" button, instead of the normal "Google search" button
4) READ CAREFULLY what appears to be a normal error message
tomorrow night, seripop, a couple of silkscreeners from canada are coming down for an art opening. they're showing all of their show posters, and most of them are completely awesome in person. the opening is from 8 till midnight at studio quest, across the street from riley's liquor with a dj and booze. i know most of you guys like music and some of you like art, so you had all better come. and you should bring a couple of bucks, because they are all for sale and you are probably going to want at least one to hang above your bed until the day you die. and if you pass up the opening to go the paradise once again, you are completely lame.
so....
for justin's party.....
everyone is good to go on friday, then?
we'll leave around noon?
we'll come back on sunday?

Sunday, July 13, 2003

Mr. Fleischer said: "I think the burden is on those people who think he didn't have weapons of mass destruction to tell the world where they are."

heaven help us

the show was fun tonight. Super short, drunk set. We had to make time for P'Elvis. But the corral ended up giving them the shaft anyway. That's too bad. Wanted to hear them. 3rd was great. In other news....um....ian sucks. (psst, just kidding ian, I needed something else to say.....not kidding. ha ha ha)

Friday, July 11, 2003

it looks like mabel might be trying to boost blog productivity, which is good. and i kicked some ass onthe game cube today, which was excellent. and the show tonight is going to be totally awesome, which is, well, totally awesome.

I have learned that the show tonight goes like this:
music at 10:30
1ST- 3RD
2ND-CARDBOARD BOXES
3RD-DPC
4TH-P'ELVIS
wow. fashion: bringing bands together one shirt at a time.
craig, dave from mudride emailed us this link about buford!
Anyone know the order of the bands tonight? If so, post on here.
yeah, the show tonight was pretty good. thanks to the people who came out for us, i know that the anchor inn is far away and a pain to get to. so, thank you very much. i hope it was enjoyable, and you got to see a new song.
The show tonight went pretty well. I really enjoyed mud ride. I was wearing my blue General John Buford shirt tonight and the lead guitarist for Mudride told me that his great great grandfather fought under him. THAT'S CRAZY!!!!!!!!! I'm sure he fought valiantly.

the seripop posters are in and they are sweet.
Swoosh swipes the Star. Watch out for your indie rock street cred
ATTENTION DOTY DUDES, VOX HUMANA, KAT or whoever the fuck has access to a PA ... my doggs Wonderful Smith are playing some sort of benefit show tomorrow at the Wil-Mar Center in Madison, and whoever was setting it up doesn't have a PA. Anyway, if you can help these dudes out, please send an email to Nick (the one in the band), his email is estesn at rocketmail dot com.

Postcript: I just looked at the band's web page and apparently Mabel is also playing. Does this mean/change anything? I don't know.

Where are the 446 remixes? I've heard "Two Cars In The Garage," I know you half-wits can be creative. HOOK IT UP DUDERS.

the upstairs of the doty ranch has a new shower curtain!!!!!! it's pink!!!!!!!!!!!! we'll charge five bucks a shower, if anyone's interested.
aghhhh! my brain!!!! too many times. you broke the camel's back.

was there a time when people weren't supposed to be loading? or was it just that people couldn't be playing instruments during dinner. and what was that time? and when did that show start? 10:30?
ian purvis...mabel arrived at the corral room around 6:00 to set up and sound check. or maybe it was 5:00. or maybe it was 7:00. or 8:00. does that help?
guys, what time did we play with mabel at the corral room? i am talking to 3rd, and we're trying to figure out what the schedule for friday should be like. didn't mabel show up early to sound check? what time was that?

Tuesday, July 08, 2003

i think i'll be there. you'll recognize me 'cause i'll have my boots on.

Monday, July 07, 2003

The Third Man may be the best film noir ever made!!!!!!!!!!! And nate, somewhere more exciting than the echo? The notion doesn't make sense to me.
hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot
cowboy boots
we went down to state street and saw that someone had flyered for the upcoming kadence show. they were large posters to begin with, then they stretched them all the way around the kiosks and did entire sides with just that poster. i know that you have to promote your shows but it kind of bugged me. i always thought there was a certain amount of respect you gave other people's flyers.
so you say from chicago.
dave and ben are in town. they are probably playing game cube back at the ranch this very moment. we went to the echo last night, and i told them we'd go somewhere more exciting tonight, so any ideas? and we should try to do lunch if i get sent out east for work today.
WEST WASH FOREV-ER! DO-TY NEV-ER!

Thursday, July 03, 2003

no flying cars
I must say, the cd was worth being chased down the street and woken up when nate came home to claim it.
i slept through it.......
i was really going to go to that show last night, though.
guess my body was telling me something...
i am listening to the german art students cd this morning. it is excellent, but then, they are educators you know. it makes it worth chasing craig down the street last night.

Wednesday, July 02, 2003

Psst! I heard that DPC is playing with Broken Social Scene on the Terrace in September!
i just had to talk to my boss about getting out of work early tomorrow, but i was told she was on vacation. twenty minutes later i ran into her on library mall. she and her husband had taken their motorcycle down to campus because he was getting a new tattoo. work rules!
gelatinous! that makes me giggle.

and craig...she's mine.
just so everyone knows, I'm leaving this afternoon and i won't be back until tuesday. the government has conscripted me for a secret assignment of global importance. The details are classified but, if i'm not back on tuesday, you better start learning how to tread water indefinitely. 1000 spf sunblock would be a good purchase as well and, no matter what happens, don't look up.

Hold my calls!

Tuesday, July 01, 2003

the network firewall here at work won't let me access cddb for cd track names, etc.

in order to fix this, i am downloading the entire cddb database and installing it on my computer.

estimated time left 1 hour, 4 minutes.
when are we recording handclaps? we should get a herd of handclappers together. or a gaggle. or a quorum.
soft serve...sugar on the asphalt. hey y'all who came to animatrix thanks for coming....all who didn't, you suck donkey balls. ;) i got rehired at ragstock, quit gadzooks, got cut from work, and am going to the 'dise tonight...today is a very good day. very good indeed.
